TILLICOULTRY Community Week ended on a high with a free tubing session for youngsters at Firpark Ski Centre over the weekend.

Around 50 people showed up to the event on Sunday, August 18, where they all had a chance to experience the thrilling activity - which involves sliding downhill at speed on an inflatable ring.

Speaking about the event, Klaire Connor, one of the organisers, told the Advertiser: “It’s been a good couple of years we’ve run it – I think it’s been part of community week from the beginning.

“It’s always been gifted by Clackmannanshire Council, so they give us tubing for free and it’s usually someone from Tillicoultry Baptist Church that organises it.

“It’s been really well attended for the last few years, and I think we had about fifty signed up [this year].

“It was really nice for folk to go to something that they've maybe not had a chance to do before, and I think it’s quite nice for a community facility to be able to open its doors.”

Despite there being some showers when the event kicked off after lunch time, the weather eventually cleared up.

Klaire said: “The sun did come out.

“It started off raining, but it was great because the sun made an appearance.”

And she added that everyone who attended thoroughly enjoyed themselves on the day.
