Rangers legend Barry Ferguson has challenged the new signings at Ibrox to make supporters forget all about Ryan Kent.

Kent has been linked with a move to Gers all summer and continues to be talked about by those of a Light Blue persuasion.

Fans are desperate for the player to return and manager Steven Gerrard has also confirmed on numerous occasions that he'd have liked last season's Young Player of the Year to head back to Glasgow.

Liverpool 'will not budge' as Rangers target Ryan Kent reports dismissed

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp seemingly put an end to rumours of Kent to Rangers when he shut down talk of the winger heading back out on loan.

And after an £8million price-tag was slapped on the 22-year-old, Rangers appeared to step aside in their bid to bring him back.

Instead they brought in Man City's Brandon Barker to add to an already strong wide position which boasts the likes of Sheyi Ojo, Jordan Jones and Greg Stewart.

And, speaking on PLZ Soccer, Gers icon Ferguson hopes those players already in the door at Ibrox can do their bit to bring success to Rangers and have people asking 'Ryan who?' come next May.

He said: "It'll be a disappointment, not just to Steven Gerrard, but to Rangers supporters.

"For me i thought he was the difference for Rangers last year, certainly in the big games he provided the goods in the final third.

"Rangers wont be able to afford the £8m or £9m Liverpool will be demanding, so that one looks to be put to bed - which will be a disappointment.

"It'll be a body blow but it's up to the other players the manager's brought in to go and produce on a Saturday."
