Rangers target Ryan Kent could be on his way out of Liverpool after he wasn't even included in their under-23s clash with Chelsea yesterday afternoon.

The winger is apparently nowhere near the Reds' first-team and has been shoved further into the wilderness on Merseyside after failing to retain his spot with the youngsters.

Kent, 22, played from the start in Liverpool 23s' 4-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur last week.

However when Neil Critchley named his 15-man squad for the Chelsea match-up there was no room for the former Gers loanee.

The Blues went on to win 3-0 at Stamford Bridge.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is a huge admirer of Kent's and has made no bones about his desire to bring the player back to Ibrox.

But there have been no short of stumbling blocks in terms of a potential deal.

Jurgen Klopp seemingly put an end to speculation linking the two after insisting Kent would not be allowed to leave his club on loan again.

Leeds United had also been interested in Kent's signature but the transfer window down south slammed shut on August 8 - after they had already signed Arsenal's Eddie Nketiah on loan.

Rangers have since brought in a number of other players including Brandon Barker from Manchester City.

This means Gers already have a number of key players in Kent's position.

However with Kent's asking price at Liverpool reportedly dropping significantly - as well as the fact that Scotland's transfer window is still open while England's isn't - Gerrard could still make a move towards deadline day.
