Upton Court Grammar School in Slough is celebrating after four of its students secured places at Oxford University.

Headteacher Mark Pritchard said: "All at Upton Court Grammar School are incredibly proud. I'm particularly proud that in addition to great exam results Upton Court students leave having received a quality education and have developed the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to be successful and engaged citizens."

Faatimah Zamir achieved three grade As in maths, chemistry and physics and said: "I can't believe that this has happened and that I'm going to Oxford.

"It is amazing. I was hammering on everyone's doors at home this morning when I saw my results."

She will be studying law.

Akashdeep Bains achieved two A* grades and an A grade and will be studying psychology at Oxford.

Minahal Ahmed achieved three A* grades and will study mathematics at Oxford while Sulekha Harrish achieved an A* and two As to study mechanical engineering there.

Zoya Hassan is also thrilled with her four A* grades, which will take her to Imperial College - Kilesh Nundial who scored three A*s is also headed there.

St Bernard's Catholic Grammar School in Slough is also celebrating.

A total of 65 per cent gained grades A* to B, with an overall pass rate of 98 per cent.

Head of sixth form Sarah Instone said: "We are so proud of our students, not only have they gained some excellent results but they have also upheld the community values of the school so well."

 

*Langley Grammar school has seen two students secure their places at Cambridge University - Vianca Shah

achieved 4 A* grades at A Level and an A* in the Extended Project Qualification, while Omar Zaman achieved 4 A*

grades at A Level.

Jeevadarshan Gurumoorthy secured a place at Oxford with 2 A* and 1 A grade.

Headteacher John Constable said: “We are very pleased with the outcomes for our students, which reflect their

hard work and commitment and the dedication of our staff to supporting them. Once again our students have risen

to the challenge and we are very proud of them."

There was an overall pass rate of 99 per cent with A*/A grades representing 35 per cent of students, A*-B grades

66 per cent, A*-C grades 87 per cent.
