A PASSER-BY has told how he detained a would-be shop raider in Bradford.

Venish Mistry was walking up Darley Street just after 2pm yesterday when a shop worker ran out of The Uniform Shop shouting for help.

The Bradford 39-year-old walked across and stopped a man leaving the shop with the charity tin from the counter.

He said: "I put my shoulder to the door.

"He was throwing things at me. The woman was absolutely petrified.

"We don't need people like that."

He said the man threw a calculator and card reading machine at him while he barricaded the door.

Mr Mistry said the police arrived after about 15 minutes and arrested the man.
