POLICE are on the hunt for a driver who almost smashed into a house in a frantic effort to escape officers.

The force had requested the vehicle to stop on Lynfield Drive, Daisy Hill, Bradford, but it had failed to do so.

The red BMW driver knocked down fences and flattened hedges during the incident. The driver left the car just centimetres away from the nearest house before running from the scene.

Swarms of residents came onto the street to find debris littered on the pavement while police blocked off the area with cars.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Enquiries are continuing to identify the driver of the vehicle involved in this collision, which happened at about 8.15pm yesterday (Tuesday).

“This occurred a short time after police requested the vehicle to stop in Lynfield Drive. The driver is believed to have made off on foot.”
