A NURSERY which opened in Bury 18 months ago is celebrating the results of its first Ofsted inspection.

Tiddlywinks Nursery in Manchester Old Road has received an overall Outstanding rating, as well as achieving this top result in all four of the assessed categories, namely the effectiveness of leadership, quality of teaching, personal development and outcomes for children.

This is the sixth nursery which directors Mel and Dave Mihell have opened across Manchester, and is now the company head office. The couple said they are "extremely proud" of the results.

Family-run Tiddlywinks will have been providing childcare for 25 years this September.

"We are so proud that our team has been recognised for their dedication and commitment in giving children the best possible start in their learning journey.

"We are extremely proud that through the report the inspector recognised our commitment to partnerships with parents and multi-agency partners and the fact that 'children are enthusiastic learners and make rapid progress from their starting points'.

"The inspector was astounded by our commitment to wellbeing not just for children but staff as well through offering a trained therapist who is employed by the owner, to offer a range of treatments, such as a head massage, for staff. This innovative approach helps staff to relax, feel happy and calm. It creates a harmonious place for children to be."
