A man who was arrested after a body was found wrapped in plastic in woodland has been released on bail, police said.

Greater Manchester Police said the body, discovered in Salford on Tuesday, had been formally identified as 24-year-old Hiran Chuahan, who was reported missing on July 4.

A 32-year-old man from Salford, who was arrested on suspicion of murder, has been released on bail pending further inquiries, a police spokesman said.

Officers were called to the wooded area near Eccles Old Road just after 8am on Tuesday, following reports a body had been found.

Detective Chief Inspector Colin Larkin said: "We are determined to find Hiran's family the answers they deserve, and have a team of detectives working to establish the full circumstances surrounding their loved one's death.

"If you noticed something suspicious or have any information that may assist our inquiries, then please get in touch as soon as possible."

Detectives appealed for anyone who has information or any video footage captured between 11.10pm on Tuesday, July 2 and 9am on Tuesday, July 9 on Eccles Old Road between Weaste Lane and Castleway, including Rivington Road, to come forward.
