A THUG with a record for assaulting women has been jailed for two years and two months after attacking his partner twice.

Bolton Crown Court heard how Kieran Jackson, aged 34, of Prospect Avenue, Farnworth, was jealous when she received text messages and assaulted her at her home on April 28, kicking and hitting with such force that the bath was cracked when she fell into it, injuring her ribs.

The attack was reported to police and Jackson made her check into a hotel with him for two nights so he could avoid being caught.

Colin Buckle, prosecuting, added that, on May 14, Jackson, who had been drinking, kicked in a front door panel at her home and when she passed his possessions to him through the broken panel, he grabbed her arm and pulled her towards him, hitting her head on the door. She fled upstairs but he managed to unlock the door and chased after her, attacking her again.

"As a finale he told her to get off the floor, go downstairs and she should apologise to his father for making him feel uncomfortable," said Mr Buckle.

Kevin Liston, defending, said the violence had followed an "unhealthy pattern of behaviour" Jackson had witnessed as a child.

Jackson pleaded guilty to two counts of causing actual bodily harm and one of using violence to secure entry to premises. The court heard the victim hopes to be reconciled with Jackson.

But Judge Richard Gioserano told him: "I would caution her against trusting you at any stage in the future as previous partners have. If you should resort to violence against her or any future partner you should expect sentences to just get longer and longer until you get the message."
