A man in his 30s has been flown to hospital suffering from horrific injuries after being crushed by a steel beam.
An ambulance team was called to the scene shortly before 5.30pm yesterday. The caller said that a 20m beam has fallen on the man at Iron House at The Metalworks site in Petersfield Avenue, Slough near the station.
Firefighters from Slough attended the scene as well as a Thames Valley Air Ambulance emergency response vehicle and an Air Ambulance helicopter.
After initial treatment at the scene the patient was flown, still in a life-threatening condition, to the major trauma unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford where he remains in a critical condition.
Police are current investigating the circumstances of the incident.
The Iron House site is a major new development that will provide 65 luxury apartments and be part of a wider project called the Metalworks.
