BURGLARS who struck in Windsor and Burnham have been jailed for a total of seven and a half years.

Steven Francis Altrudo, 24, of no fixed abode and Jamie Frederick Cassell, 29, of Wantage Road, Reading, were sentenced at Reading Crown Court on Friday, June 7.

Altrudo had pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary and was jailed for four years.

Cassell admitted a single count of burglary and was jailed for three and a half years.

The charges are in connection with burglaries in Eastfield Road, Burnham and Clarence Road, Windsor on February 5.

As officers arrived at Clarence Road both Altrudo and Cassell were spotted and arrested as they tried to run away.

Stolen items from both addresses were found and they were charged the following day.

Investigating officer, DC Steven Baggaley, of Area CID at Maidenhead police station, said: “I would like to thank the local community of Windsor and Burnham in being vigilant and reporting this incident, which assisted greatly in identifying both offenders.

“We were able to locate them promptly and recover property that was of very high sentimental value to the victims.

“Thames Valley Police is dedicated to relentlessly pursue and bring offenders who commit burglary to justice. Burglary is a very invasive crime and can have a long lasting effect on home owners, who should rightly feel safe in their own homes.

“I would always encourage anyone who witnesses any burglary taking place to call 999, but 101 if the burglary has happened.”
