PART of the M60 was shut this morning following a crash.

A car smashed into the central reservation between junction 19 for Heaton and junction 18 for Simister Island on the motorway’s anticlockwise carriageway shortly before 6.30am.

The vehicle's driver appears to have escaped unscathed as police say there were no reports of any injuries.

However, as a result of debris and an oil spillage, two lanes were closed as well as the entry slip road from junction 19.

Highways England attended at the scene and the vehicle was later recovered.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "We were called at just before 6.30am to reports of a car involved in a collision with the central reservation barrier.

"There were no reported injuries."
