Volunteers from the Islamic Education Centre have been raising money for a new mosque project.
The first phase of the new centre has been completed and members of the public were invited to see the structure which is going up just off Devonport Road in Blackburn.
Many of those attending the centre live within close proximity of the building which will replace a smaller mosque made up of two terraced houses situated on Devenport Road.
At a special fundraising event this weekend attended by more than 200 guests at the Grand Venue, £70,000 was raised for the project.
A spokesperson said, “Alhamdulillah with your attendance and Duas the fundraising event was a success. We are humbled by the spirit of everyone who attended and to all those who could not attend but still made contributions to the event.”
