SCORES of people marched through Burnley town centre to show support for a soldier being prosecuted for the murder of two men on Bloody Sunday.

Members of the Pendle Sons of Ulster Loyal Orange Lodge (L.O.L) and other Orange Order members paraded through the streets of Burnley in support of an army veteran, known as Soldier F, who is being prosecuted for the murders of James Wray and William McKinney.

The soldier is also being charged with four attempted murders on Bloody Sunday in Londonderry in 1972, where 13 people were shot dead when soldiers opened fire during a civil rights march on January 30, 1972.

The Orange Order members, along with two flute bands, set off from the Cross Keys Hotel pub in St James's Street and paraded past the Charter Walk Shopping Centre towards the war memorial at the library square.

Stephen Burnley, the worthy master of the Pendle Sons of Ulster L.O.L, said: "We peacefully marched through Burnley town centre to show our support for Solider F who is being prosecuted for incidents in Northern Ireland.

"I am really pleased with the large turn out.

"We have people from across the North West here.

"This march took two years in the making to plan and I am happy it has come off.

"I would like to thank the Cross Keys Hotel pub for accommodating us."
