A DRUG addict who broke into a flat in Bradford and was found there asleep has received a suspended sentence for burglary.
Ateeq Rehman, 38, of Sydenham Place, entered the Duckworth Lane flat on April 10, stealing electrical items and jewellery to the value of £3,350.
Appearing before Bradford Crown Court, Rehman was described as having a “significant drug habit” and a terrible record, mainly for offences of dishonesty to fund his drug habit.
The person living in the flat had been in the process of moving out and had left it empty for a couple of days.
Rehman entered the flat, took drugs there and stole some items, the court heard.
He received an eight month sentence, suspended for two years, and must carry out 35 days of rehabilitation activities.
