PARENTS flocked back to school when they were offered the opportunity of an insight into what their kids get up to on an average day.

Goldenhill Primary staged a Family Open Evening to allow pupils the chance to show parents and relatives their school environment.

Classrooms were opened up to allow parents to view their children’s work, which was displayed around the school.

New pupil-based activities introduced this year, allowed families to view an “Our School” presentation using videos, photographs and comments from children and staff, collated by primary seven pupils.

Senior pupils also presented their varied talents with a gymnastics display and a treble-recorder performance.

Staff say they received a wealth of positive feedback from the event through the Stewart Drive school’s visitors’ books.

Valerie Stewart, headteacher, said: “This is always a very popular event in the school calendar and all staff are also delighted to meet the children and their families in this informal setting.

“It is always encouraging to hear children talking with pride about how they learn in class, and it is helpful for parents of children in our younger classes to visit the senior classes to see children’s progress over the seven years at primary.”
