A TEAM of cyclists from the Bradford Institute for Health Research (BIHR) will tackle a gruelling two-day, 130-mile long ride around the Yorkshire Dales Cycleway.

They are undertaking the challenge in the hope of raising money for events to promote cycling in the district, particularly among children.

One is to be held on Sunday, June 23, at Haworth Road Recreation Ground and the other on Saturday, July 13, at Dixons Manningham Primary School.

The events will be held in conjunction with the 10 Bradford SHINE primary schools, the Bradford Bikery community project and the East Bradford Cycling Club.

The schools, in the Manningham, Heaton and Frizinghall areas, have strong links to the BIHR through the ‘Born in Bradford’ programme of research.

The money raised will be used towards the events - one plan is to distribute refurbished bikes to children who do not have one and also provide bike riding and maintenance skills.

The team will begin their ride tomorrow (Saturday).
