A LITTLE Hulton temple is serving up a fundraising vegan feast this weekend.

Tian Cheng Temple, in Madams Wood Road, Little Hulton is hosting a two-day event to raise money for the upkeep of its premises, specifically the development of the temple’s garden.

The event will begin with an eight-course dinner on Saturday, with two sittings, one in the morning and one in the evening, and will be priced at £30 per person.

An ‘All You Can Eat Vegan Buffet’ will be held on Sunday. Tickets will be £10 per person.

A gold-star chef using ingredients imported from overseas will be cooking the feast.

Dishes being served include the special Beijing mock duck, Japanese fried rice and crispy banana rolls.

Organisers say the fundraising feast is also aimed at promoting healthy dietary lifestyles.

Lay Kuan Gan, 52, one of the event organisers, said: “The temple always encourages love and compassion for animals, that is why we are promoting veganism at this event. We hope that people will like the food that we will serve. The main aim of this event is to encourage more and more people to become vegan.”

Cindy Pissen, 36, another organiser said: “Becoming vegan and vegetarian is so important and as a temple we like to encourage people to adopt these kinds of lifestyles. We hope to receive as many phone calls as possible from people who are interested in this event. We’ve already had quite a few reservations”.

The temple hosted a vegan fundraising feast, the first one was last year.
