Glasgow's hot and dry bank holiday weekend is set to extend into a fifth day, according to Met Office forecasts.

The Met Office said a high of 23.6C was recorded in Scotland, making this the warmest Easter Monday on record.

It comes after Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland each enjoyed their warmest Easter Sunday on record.

Met Office forecaster Marco Petagna said: "We have got high pressure moving at the moment giving most of the UK a lot of fine weather, this combined with the fact that the high pressure has dominated for the past few days is allowing the temperatures to heat and build."

Weather experts across the country are predicting another day of sun and warm weather across the city on Tuesday, even reaching into the beginning of Wednesday.

Temperatures as high as 23°C have been recorded across the city in the past few days, with highs of 22°C as we kicked off the week.

On Tuesday, those lucky enough to have time to enjoy the weather could head out again as the mercury looks to rise to around 18°C, with no rain predicted.

However, the tide of good weather is set to turn later this week.

Warm temperatures could still rise to around 17°C on Wednesday, but look set to be accompanied by rain across the city.

Thursday and Friday look similarly warm and wet, with heavier showers set to hit the city on Saturday.

The week could end with a dry day on Sunday, but with temperatures about half of those one week earlier, with forecasters predicting highs of around 12°C.
