A new Kabaddi Northwest club and Academy was launched to celebrate World Kabaddi Day.

Organised by Oldham based non-profit community organisation Outta Skool, the initiative attracted the international teams of England and Scotland. It is hoped the sport which attracted thousands during summer tournaments at festivals will attract new players from all sections of the community.

Moinul Islam, founder of Outta Skool and Kabaddi Northwest said, “This is a dream come true launch of our club in the presence of the national teams. We have been attached to Kabaddi as an organization for over 15 years delivering sessions in schools and youth clubs.

“There is a huge gap in Kabaddi clubs, majority of the universities all have teams but once they leave they have nowhere to continue the sport.

“Hopefully we can create opportunities for anyone who wants to take up the sport professionally. We are looking to cover the whole of Northwest and beyond and being affiliated to England and World Kabaddi Association will give us that scope.”

Outta Skool work with young people and adults to encourage a healthier lifestyle through sports, dance and fitness activities engaging hard to reach members of the community.
