DETECTIVES have arrested a second teenager following a street brawl involving more than 20 people in Blackburn yesterday.

Police were called to the fight on New Chapel Street, Mill Hill, shortly after 4.30pm yesterday.

The brawl, reported to include between 20 and 30 people, quickly dispersed following the arrival of officers.

A 16-year-old boy from Blackburn has today been arrested on suspicion of affray. It comes hours after police arrested an 18-year-old man, from Blackburn, on suspicion of affray and possession of a knife. Both people remain in police custody.

Paramedics attended the scene and found one man was found with facial injuries. He was taken to hospital for treatment where he remains in a stable condition.

Inspector Jon Cisco, of Blackburn Police, said there will be heavier police presence in the area following the incident.

Ward councillor Damian Talbot described the incident as ‘disturbing’ and said: “I just hope that any culprits are dealt with and appropriate action is taken.”

Inspector Cisco added: “We understand the concern that this will have caused to people in the local area. We believe this was a targeted incident and would like to reassure people that it has now come to a close.

“We are taking this very seriously and there will be a heavier police presence in the area while our enquiries continue.
