FIRE crews are at the scene of a large fire at a mill in Great Horton this evening.
The fire at the Harris Court Mill, in Great Horton Road close to the junction with Southfield Lane and opposite the Tesco Extra Great Horton supermarket, is currently being dealt with by more than ten fire crews.
Crews from Bradford, Odsal and Fairweather Green were among the ten crews who attended the blaze, along with two aerial appliances.
The roof of the mill, which measures 80 metres by 30 metres was fully affected by the fire and has been seriously damaged.
The roof of the four-storey mill was 100 per cent involved, and firefighters managed to get the fire under control by around 6.45pm.
Large parts of the roof have been destroyed by the fire and it has also affected the top floor of the building.
The fire could be seen from across the city as smoke from the blaze bellows into the night sky.
One witness said that by 6.45pm the fire had been extinguished by firefighters, and they had begun damping down the remnants of the old mill's roof.
