CHILDREN from the area helped put together packs of food to be given to Bradford’s homeless at an event at the Guru Gobind Singh Gurdwara Sikh temple in Leeds Road on Saturday.
The annual children’s event was presented on the Sikh value, seva, which means selfless service, and invited youngsters from the community to take part.
Charities such as Khalsa Aid and Zero Hunger with Langar were at the temple to speak to children about the work they do here in England and abroad and of their ethos that no one should go hungry in the world today.
Children made sandwiches and food packs for the team to take and give on their food delivery rounds to people in need in the city.
General Secretary Mohinder Singh Maan said: “It is really important to help the children learn about giving back to the community and to help those in need.
“These are core principles of being a Sikh.”
Around 100 children in total between the ages of five and 16 attended three separate workshops throughout the day and also enjoyed a play session on climbing frames which had been installed outside.
