Here are the first batch of images released as part of a new community campaign.

The new ‘Love Blackburn’ initiative showcases the work of volunteers as well as some unusual gems within the town. Images have already been shared on social media with further pictures being released in the spring and summer.

The initiative led by Bangor Street Community Centre is being supported by several organisations including Blackburn Rovers who feature the work of the Blackburn Rovers Community Trust.

Many of the images were taken on mobile phones and include charity groups as well as a unique family run business which has been collecting and dealing violins for over 40 years.

Members of disability group Purple Patch produced their very own Love Blackburn logo too.

The campaign is free for all participating organisations and businesses and anyone wishing to be featured in the next batch can send in their images.

Iqbal Bhai from Bangor Street Community Centre said, “It was just a small idea that the centre came up with earlier in the year with an aim to promote some of the great work volunteers do. And it has grown from there.

“There really is no other incentive for anyone other than to promote the great things that Blackburn has to offer. For instance we pass places every day that we have no idea of the history behind them or we meet volunteers who do that extra bit for their sports club.”

Organisations and individuals can share anything from their favourite places to eat or drink to the best part of the town. They can then share their own graphics on their own forums.

Bangor Street Community Centre has been managed by a non-profit organísation since 2016.

If you have an image that can feature in the next batch you can text (WhatsApp) it to 07968 790034 or call 01254 691551.
