An amateur dramatics group is bringing an evening of comedy to Wethersfield for their latest performance.

Wethersfield Amateur Performers are bringing The Second Cause of Death (pictured) to the village hall.

The story follows the Colonel who has engaged the formidable Cynthia Maple to run a murder mystery evening. She has engaged the services of the thespian Cardew Longfellow because he looks like the Colonel.

When Inspector Pratt arrives on the scene he is so utterly incompetent that he even manages to refer to himself as ‘incontinent’. The hapless detective consistently muddles his words to amusing effect.

There is a back reference to Murdered to Death, when the colonel’s wife was confined to an asylum.

She has escaped and as the bodies pile up, Pratt draws all the wrong conclusions around several double roles of characters.

The show runs from February 28 to March 2 at 7.30pm. Tickets are £8 or £15 on the Saturday, which includes a fish supper and live music.
