A person believed to be a Conservative Party member has been slammed for trying to justify the use of the word 'Paki'.

Twitter user 'jay_daniel19' (believed to be the Admin Executive for Blackpool and Cleveleys Young Conservatives) said 'well you can't even call someone from Pakistan a 'paki' or 'Pakistani' without being racist these days so I understand the confusion'. The account has now been deactivated.

But the screenshot had been shared widely.

Blackpool North and Cleveleys Conservatives said the individual would be expelled from the party.

Sayeeda Warsi, said, "This new generation @Conservatives⁩ not only thinks “Paki” is acceptable but Muslims also have 2 give up their religious text to “prove” they are against terrorism Methinks that Independent Inquiry into #Islamophobia is long overdue."

In a statement today Blackpool North and Cleveleys Conservatives said, "The association has been made aware of an incident overnight involving the use of racist language.

"Our local MP Paul Maynard had made clear he condemns racism in all forms, a view supported by the association.

"The individual involved in this incident will be expelled from the party. Their views do not reflect those of the Conservative Party, they do not share our values.

"This incident will be dealt with in the most serious manner possible. A clear message needs to be sent that this cannot and will will not be tolerated."
