With almost one million followers on Facebook and hundreds of thousands more on YouTube and other social media platforms, Ozzy Raja and wife Neeli have quickly become an internet sensation.

With YouTube being dominated by vloggers and musicians, the Manchester born Ozzy Raja content creator has cemented his place on the mammoth platform.

Ozzy reveals what makes his fans so devoted.

He told us, “My life has completely changed since I posted my first video two years ago.

“I was living a very quiet life and all of a sudden, I'm recognised worldwide.

“I never imagined to be where I am today. It’s an amazing feeling.

"All my videos are in Urdu and Hindi which is why my biggest fan base is in Pakistan and India, but what surprises me is that I have a large following from countries that don't even speak Urdu or Hindi.

“That's why subtitles are essential in my videos!”

A regular feature in Ozzy’s videos is his wife Neeli who was initially apprehensive about appearing with him.

Now a firm favourite with fans, Neeli, Ozzy reveals, is his ‘backbone’ and has been an integral part of elevating the eponymous YouTube channel to one that is inimitable.

Ozzy said, “I can't do much without Neeli. We sit together every other day, discuss our upcoming projects and write the script.

“We don't really rehearse before the shoot, but we do take our time to make sure it's done properly.”

Scripted comedy wasn’t a natural transition for Ozzy who is a professional graphic designer and a trained boxer. With no acting experience, Ozzy took the plunge into the digital comedy world and has not looked back since.

“I have no background in acting. No-one from my family is in showbiz or a YouTuber. I took everyone by surprise when I first posted a video. They have all been so supportive, largely because my videos are wholesome and family friendly.

An increasing number of young viewers eschew television in favour of YouTube.
Teenagers are now watching around an hour of YouTube every day, according to a recent report by Ofcom. This change in trend has been noted by Ozzy and is reflected in his content choice.

He said, “My videos resonate with people of all ages. I find that people from the same family, from parents to their children, can relate to the subjects and themes of my videos.

“My fans are amazing! They invite me to their houses, not only in UK but abroad.

“They even offer to pay for travel. My fans in Manchester are unparalleled. Every time I am out, they stop me to take selfies and the excitement on their faces makes me extremely happy.

“It’s a wonderful feeling meeting the people who watch the videos and knowing I have won their hearts.”

Ozzy explained having a larger audience is an incredible opportunity, but it is the community that he has amassed that inspire him to continue exploring his creativity.

“The love and support from people that I wake up to every day, the countless beautiful messages and the growing following is what motivates me to keep being creative and making more videos and hopefully I can inspire an emerging generation of vloggers to follow my example and also take creative risks.”
