A GROUP of Bolton athletes have made a £1,000 donation to the town's hospital.

Team Lokan is a group of 20 men from the Al-Imdaad Foundation fundraising organisation who take part in fun sporting activities whilst raising awareness of issues in the community.

After seeing an appeal on Facebook, the team got together to raise money to support a surgical ward at the Royal Bolton Hospital.

Their donation will complement work that has already taken place on the ward to improve the areas adapted for those with dementia. As well as purchasing recliner chairs and small tables for patients the money will contribute to patient and carer boxes filled with small items.

Shirley Whittaker, G3 ward manager at Royal Bolton Hospital said: “The team have worked so hard to make our ward as comfortable as possible for our patients who may have dementia. We’ve already made improvements but this kind donation will help us to go that step further for our patients. Thank you to the team for choosing us.”
