This is the wonderful moment Talha Patel who has learning difficulties recited the Azaan.

Talha, aged 32 was shy at first but was insistent on finishing the whole Azaan at a charity cheque presentation by Purple Patch in Blackburn.

Azaan or Adhan is the Islamic call to worship and is recited before prayers.

Rafik Jassat of Purple Patch said, “Talha has been with us a year and he has developed really well.

“He is a fantastic member of our family and has a great sense of humour and loves to express this in front of people.

“He was quite nervous at the beginning. It was not the easiest thing to do. He can sometimes be heard uttering the Azaan whilst he is at the centre.”

Talha loves computers and is currently on an ITC Course. It is one of the many activities he takes part in at Purple Patch who are based at Bangor Street Community Centre.

Members of the group raised £1800 for charity and presented a cheque to Penny Appeal yesterday (Wednesday January 23).

Purple Patch is a Social Enterprise that is committed to improving the lives of people with disabilities in Lancashire.
