A new Parliamentary survey of child sex abuse survivors’ experiences of the criminal justice system has been launched.

Sarah Champion, MP for Rotherham and Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) said, “Too often the needs of survivors of childhood sexual abuse are forgotten. They are the experts in what support is needed, but their voice is frequently ignored.

"This survey is a crucial part of recording survivors’ views. It will help us to send a strong message to the Government to make policies more reflective of the people that are impacted by them.

"We want to hear from people in every part of the country and encourage organisations, activists, survivors and members of the public to share the survey so we can achieve this.”

The survey has been created to form a response to the Government’s new Victims Strategy.

The APPG wants to provide Government with a true picture of the views of survivors of childhood sexual abuse. The survey explores survivors’ experiences of support services and the criminal justice system.

The APPG will be holding evidence sessions to complement the survey before producing a written response to the Government’s consultation on the Victims Strategy, set to launch in the New Year.

Child abuse is something that people from all racial backgrounds, genders, abilities and sexual orientations can have been the victim of growing up.
