Police in Bradford city centre have issued a warning to persistent beggars - in a rather unusual style.

PCSO James Clarke has conjured up his own words for the song ‘Santa Claus is comin’ to town’ in an effort to get his message across.

The city centre PCSO, who describes himself as ‘probably one of the tallest officers in West Yorkshire Police’, tweeted: “You better not shout, You better not cry, You better not “BEG”, I’m telling you why!

Cos ”Clarkey Boy” is working in town!

“I see when you are begging, I see when you are not, You been locked up in Bradford, So take the punishment that you got!

HOHOHO.”

The Force’s Bradford city centre twitter account followed up PCSO Clarke’s lyrics with a more conventional message, which read: “Bradford City Neighbourhood Policing Team are committed to tackling persistent beggars who cause problems in the City Centre specifically over this Christmas period when the City is busy with shoppers.

“Please contact 101 to report this offence if you witness it.”
