It is understood a car and a lorry crashed, which caused traffic to stall on the motorway as the roads were closed off.
Highways England has said that although all lanes have reopened, there is still traffic queueing from the Darenth Interchange.
The vehicles in question have been pulled into the hard shoulder.
More as we get it.
