A FAMILY has spoken of its shock at the tragic loss of a loving father-of-four.

Yasir Hussain, from Nelson, was stabbed to death with a machete outside a Chinese restaurant in Birmingham on Tuesday.

The 34-year-old has been described as a caring and loving family man, who is father to Adil, 13, Azaan, eight, Malaika, 11 and four-year-old Hazan.

A murder investigation has been launched by West Midlands Police following the stabbing near the Golden City Chinese in Lower Gornal.

Yasir, who co-owned Spar on Melville Street, Burnley, was visiting relatives in Birmingham and went to the takeaway, on Central Drive, to get some food with his cousin shortly after 9.30pm.

As they did a van rammed into the store's shop window and the two men were chased by a group of people carrying weapons.

Yasir was stabbed three times in the back while trying to escape and left fatally injured while his cousin managed to escape.

The former student at Edge End High School, Nelson, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Yasir's sister, Siyqa Khamum, 39, also from Nelson, travelled with her mother and father and other relatives to University Hospital Coventry, where her brother had been taken, later that night.

The mum-of-two, who arrived at the hospital at around 2am on Wednesday, said: "My mum collapsed and my dad just fell. I was vomiting and I just wanted to go home.

"People have killed an innocent man and taken him for no reason. They have taken him from my mother's life.

"Yasir was a fun loving guy who was amazing with kids and he loved socialising with family and friends."

The family left the hospital an hour later to travel to back to Nelson because doctors would not let them stay at the hospital. They will travel back to Birmingham tomorrow to see Yasir's body for the first time.

Ms Khamum posted on her partner's Facebook wall added: "Yasir was such a caring and loving person, even if he was being hit he wouldn’t fight back.

"We lost a dad, a son and a brother. Please if anyone knows or seen this incident get in touch with the police so we can get him some justice."

Detective Inspector Jim Colclough, from the force’s homicide unit, said: "These arrests are another positive step but we are still working hard to piece together what took place on Tuesday night.

“We would encourage anyone who has any information which they believe would assist our investigation to get in touch.

“We have stepped up patrols in the area to reassure members of the community.
