A body found in Leicester has been identified as missing man Paresh Patel.

The body was found by police divers in the canal within Abbey Park, Leicester shortly before 10am Friday 30 November.

The man has been formally identified as 48-year-old Paresh who was last seen on the evening of Saturday 10 November when he left his home address.

A post mortem examination has been conducted.

Further tests are being carried out.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for HM Coroner. Police said they would like to thank everyone who shared their appeals to help find Paresh and assisted with our enquiries.

In a statement released to the Leicester Mercury, Paresh’s brother Nitin, said, “Tonight, it is with the heaviest of hearts that we inform you that our son, husband, father, brother, nephew, cousin and friend, Paresh, has been taken from us.

“We wanted to thank you all with everything that we have, for every single moment of your time, that you gave to us, to help us find Paz.”

After his disappearance, Paresh's wife Kalpana put out an emotional video asking Paresh to come home.
