Rail passengers faced disruption earlier this morning when travelling between Weymouth and Wool.

Trains had to run at reduced speeds on all lines due to ice affecting the electric rail between both stations.

Passengers were warned that trains running between Weymouth and Wool may be cancelled, delayed or revised.

This morning, a spokesman for South Western Railway said: “We have been informed of ice affecting the conductor rail between Weymouth and Wool. This means that trains are struggling to take power and will incur delays through the affected area."

A replacment bus services was put on between both stations whilst the problem was being resolved.

Normal services have now resumed between Weymouth and Wool. 

South Western Railway has apologised for any inconvenience which has been caused. 

Passenger taken ill at Clapham Junction 

Meanwhile passengers travelling on the Weymouth to London Waterloo line have been told to expect further delays.

According to South Western Railway, a passenger was taken ill on a train earlier today at Clapham Junction.

As a result, train services running to and from the station may be cancelled or delayed.

A spokesman said: “We were earlier informed that a passenger has taken ill onboard a train between Clapham Junction and London Waterloo which resulted in the passenger emergency alarm being activated, the persons condition was assessed by staff and the train was able to continue its journey.

“For further information or onward travel advice please speak to a member of staff or use a station help point.

“We are very sorry for any delay that this may cause to your journey.”

Disruption is expected until 1pm.
