Pupils at Slough’s Iqra Islamic Primary School in Wexham Road welcomed celebrated British sprinter Rion Pierre on Monday.
He cut the ribbon on the school’s new 100 metre track, as well as launching their new ‘daily mile’ plan.
PE teacher Fraser Wilson said: “Every class uses the track twice a week but the children have access to it at other times if they want.
“Rion was inspirational to the children.”
The school is part of the Slough School Sports Network and won Government help in paying for its new track.
Mr Wilson said: “It has a real impact on the children’s self-esteem, wellbeing and energy levels.”
