Students and staff at St Mary’s College are celebrating a set of outstanding A Level and Vocational examination results.

32 out of 37 subjects achieved a 100% pass rate; with over 98% of A Level students and 100% of Vocational students passing their examinations.

Students studying A Level and Vocational programmes have made excellent progress with their studies, with an impressive 70% of A Level students and 80% of Vocational students achieving high grades.

Fatemeh Akbarpoor has her sights set on studying Medicine, with the possibility of gaining a place at Cambridge, after attaining a fantastic set of A Level grades this year.

Fatemeh scored 3 A*s in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics and will now take a gap year.

During this time she will be on placement at Royal Blackburn Hospital, gaining invaluable experience in a highly competitive field.

Talha achieved A*s across the board in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics and will be studying Medicine at the University of Manchester. 

He said, “The best thing about St Mary’s is the high quality of teaching, where teachers treat students with respect and help them to fulfil their ambitions”.

Nabiha gained 3 As in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics and will be studying Medicine at the University of Manchester. 

Nabiha, who is a St John’s Ambulance cadet, said, “Studying Medicine will give me the opportunity to help people and make a positive impact on their health and well being.

"Through both my work experience and personal encounters, I have seen how doctors work not only to treat illnesses, but the patients themselves”.

Zainab Abid who scored a D*DD in Btec Applied Science. She will now be studying Dental Technology at the University of Bolton.

Zainab said, "I can't fault St Mary's College. The two years I have spent here have been amazing and the teachers have given me the best help and support possible".
