Staff  and pupils from Tauheedul Islam Boys’ High School, Blackburn raised over £1,600 for Cancer Research in a week of charitable activities.

A group of female teachers and non-teaching staff from the secondary school took part in the Race For Life event in Blackburn’.

The 11 strong team of colleagues raised money through sponsorship as they crossed the line of the 5K race.

Keen to help boost their fundraising, the whole school community got behind ‘Team TIBHS’ to add to the cancer charity coffers with a World Cup inspired school football tournament involving staff, plus a non-uniform day and barbecue.

TIBHS Principal Majid Ditta said, “Sadly there aren’t many of us who have not been affected personally by cancer.

"When a group of female staff decided they wanted to enter a team into Blackburn’s Race For Life, we decided that the rest of the schools should support them to help raise as much as we could for the charity that provides vital research into treatments for this devastating disease.”

Sabiha Patel was one of the Team TIBHS runners in Race For Life. She said:

“Although, the weather was very hot, the TIBHS Team gave it their best shot and thoroughly enjoyed themselves whilst raising funds for a vital cause.”
