A man who wants to launch a 'shariah compliant' airline is the focus of a Channel 4 documentary.

Kazi Shafiqur Rahman wants to launch a brand new airline in the UK which fulfils the demands of his Islamic faith.

He is leasing a 19-seat Jetstream 31 airliner under the name of Firnas Airways.

While working at City Airport, Kazi did every job imaginable, from catering to security and cleaning the plane toilets.

After creating a successful fragrance business, he is now in the position to fulfil his ultimate ambition, but he is also under pressure to fulfil the demands of his faith and he insists his new airline complies with the teachings of Islam, complete with modest dress for cabin crew, and with only halal food served on board.

Middle Eastern airlines already serve halal food as standard but also alcohol which Kazi wants to ban.

He did have this message for everyone before the documentary.

How to Start an Airline airs tonight (Wednesday 13 June) at 10.30pm.
