Leaders from youth sector charities across the UK are set to participate in Clore Social Leadership’s Emerging Leader Youth Programme that kicks off later this month.

Among them is Jaffer Hussain the Chief Executive of youth organisation Slyncs.

Funded by the Bank of America Merrill Lynch and the Big Lottery Fund using National Lottery funding, the 2018 programme builds on the success of last year’s pilot and will see a 30% increase in participant numbers.

The six-month leadership programme was developed in collaboration with a group of youth charities who recognised that strong leadership is pivotal for the success of their organisations and the wider sector.

Dawn Austwick, Chief Executive at the Big Lottery Fund said: “Bringing on the next generation of young leaders is fundamental as it ensures civil society continues to thrive. The programme is an important step towards creating a generous and accessible approach to our future leaders.”

Fiona Ellison, Fund Development Manager at the Big Lottery Fund and 2017 Emerging Leader Youth Fellow said “The Emerging Leader Programme provided me with a brilliant opportunity to rethink the way I work and the leadership opportunities and challenges I was facing.

"It gave me the chance to collaborate with some of the brightest minds from my sector and I feel I have become a confident leader as a result.”
