Volunteers from the Bolton Hindu Forum have shared images of donations made at local temples and community centres.
The SKS Swaminarayan Temple (Adelaide Street) and Veda Mandir were inundated with donations and volunteers have presented the clothes and food to three local charities - the homeless, Bolton Community Kitchen, Homeless Aid UK, and Foodcycle.
The Bolton Hindu Forum said, "Thank you to everyone that came and helped, we sorted all the food and clothes, as well as paint the Gujarati school classroom.
"This is just the start and we’re aiming to do regular community sewa(service) activities going forward.
"It’s brilliant to see the Hindu community working in unity for the betterment of the wider community, so get involved and thank you to all again!
"We are still getting donations of food and clothes so we are going to make this a quarterly activity.
"Please keep bringing your clothes and food donations and we will ensure they are given to charitable groups in the area.
"We are aiming to have our next Sewa activity day on Sunday May 6th 2018, any ideas are welcome."
If you are interested in these sewa activities and would like to join the team in creating the Bolton Sewa Team please call 01204 238018.
