Recently, two suicide bombers killed 85 and injured more than 100 outside a Church in Peshawar, Pakistan.

The attack is said to have been the worst Pakistan has ever witnessed and has left the Christian community in Pakistan angry as well as fearful.

This recent incident has not only affected those directly involved or one religion, but thousands. Whatever your religion or race, every life counts and has the same value, consequently when lives are carelessly taken we are all affected.

Events like this tarnish our society and especially the religion of peace – Islam. Muslims have been dragged into a deeper hole than we are already in due to unfathomable actions which are so evil and irrational caused by people who are by name Muslims.

According to a new poll taken by BBC Radio 1 Newsbeat, one in four young people in Britain distrust Muslims which clearly indicates a serious prejudice towards us.

The youth are more likely to be swayed by the media which will have unprecedented affects in the future if we do not act now especially against our own people who are causing hardships for us all.

During this tough time, we should be uniting and proving those people who have preconceptions totally wrong.

Except occurrences such as the bombing in Pakistan does the exact opposite and only increases animosity towards Muslims.

I, as a Muslim strongly believe those who kill ‘in the name of Allah’ are simply not Muslim.

We need to teach these people the real Islam and if this is not possible, they have no place in our community.

Hatred or intolerance are strongly prohibited in Islam and for as long as the true message of the religion is taught – they always will be.

Small acts like smiling at a passerby or opening the door for someone can have huge outcomes as they simply show we have a mutual respect for others despite the differences of our religion, race or colour.

The easy option is to blame the media for the preconceived ideologies on Islam except some of the problem is self inflicted.

Muslim life is given a lesser value as a minority of Muslims so easily take the lives of others as well as their own. It’s vital that we, as moderate Muslims do our part to ensure we integrate and have consideration towards all.

Reiterating John F. Kennedy’s famous words, when a person’s life is taken by another unnecessarily, whenever we tear at the fabric of the life which another man has painfully and clumsily woven for himself and his children, the whole nation is degraded.
