A teenager who overcame cancer is to deliver a speech to guests at Eddie Jordan’s Windsor Race Night in aid of CLIC Sargent, the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people.

Mohini Samani, 14, is in remission from acute lymphoblastic leukaemia and is preparing to tell her story to around 250 sponsors, patrons and celebrities at the illustrious annual event on Monday 24 June.

Mohini was diagnosed in 2007 at the age of nine, and after two-and-a-half years of gruelling chemotherapy treatment is back at school and preparing for next year’s GCSEs.

During her treatment Mohini and her family were given practical and emotional support by CLIC Sargent Social Worker, Orlando Fuller.

She is a regular public speaker, and last year addressed the CLIC Sargent Parliamentary Reception in Westminster.

She said: “I’m really looking forward to speaking at the Windsor Race Night. It’s another great chance to tell my story and make people aware of the fantastic work that CLIC Sargent does.

“I don’t know what my family and I would have done with the support of CLIC Sargent and Orlando, so I’m always really keen to help the charity in any way I can.”

As well as Mohini’s address, the evening will consist of six races, dinner and an auction – proceeds from which will be donated to CLIC Sargent.

Guests at this year’s event include broadcaster Jake Humphrey and George Lineker, son of former England striker Gary, who was also supported by CLIC Sargent when he was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia as a child.
