The Lancashire Council of Mosques (LCM) has called for a blanket boycott of all school meals provided by Lancashire County Council (LCC).
It comes after revelations that “Halal” beef burgers made from horsemeat were served in Lancashire schools.
Cllr Salim Mulla, chair of LCM, said, “The responsibility of this horrendous act lies solely with the LCC which has once again undermined the value of the Islamic faith and one of the most fundamental aspects of Islam.”
“The LCM hereby calls upon all the Muslims of Lancashire to boycott school meals completely (including vegetarian and fish options) at all schools that are provided catering by LCC and to go on to packed lunches or home dinners from immediate effect."
