I don’t often get sent music from female solo artists.
So I when I first heard ‘Khabida’ (meaning dreamy eyes) by Priti Menon, I was very pleasantly surprised.
Asian music isn’t all bhangra and pop and this lady is here to prove just that.
Her soulful voice is perfectly complimented by the mix of traditional Indian instruments and the song as a whole works.
.

Priti has often exclaimed that the main inspiration behind this song is A.R Rahman and I think he would be proud.
I would love to hear more from this artist to see just how well developed her voice is and if her vocal skills would rival other Bollywood singers such as Shilpa Rao and Shreya Ghoshal because in my opinion she isn’t far off.
Her ability to sing in many languages; Hindi, Gujarati, Tamil to name a few will hold her in good steed and could mean that she will easily follow in the footsteps of Shilpa and Shreya.

MY Verdict: More of a hopeful prediction than a verdict; but with a bit of hard work and the right team behind her, I look forward to seeing Priti’s music appearing in Bollywood films.
