Anil Kapoor shares screen space with daughter Sonam for the first time in Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga.

Here, he tells us about about his latest release as well celebrating 25 years of the iconic movie '1942: A Love Story'.

What was it like working with Sonam? Did you find it easier or harder to work with her?
Sonam is a perfectionist. She works extremely hard & puts her heart and soul into each character. Working with her was a learning experience for me and a memorable one at the same time.

The story has a different approach than a typical “can’t marry due to differences” film. As Sonam is playing your daughter on-screen as well was there much acting or did it come naturally as a father?
I think it was a mix of both. The instincts of a father came naturally to me in this case for obvious reasons, but each relationships is different, so we did have to let the characters and their stories prevail sometimes.

A father-daughter relationship is beautiful, if sometimes complicated, and I’m glad I get to share that on and off screen with her.

2019 marks 25 years of 1942: A Love Story. What are some of the best memories you have of the film?
The lasting memories for me from the days of 1942: A Love Story will always be those of a restless energy that ran through the entire cast and crew.

It was a period of experimentation for us and there was a sense of urgency and eagerness that showed in our work. The music of the film is the other memory I’m going to carry with me forever. It’s pretty much been the soundtrack of my life!

Are there any other films in the works with Sonam?
You will have to wait to find out!

Why should we watch the film?
Because in today’s over-processed, manic world, we could all use some simplicity and honesty.

Because this is a story of a family that fights with and for each other, which makes it the story of every family in some ways. It’s a simple story with a lot of heart and very relatable situations and emotions.

What is your character like?
A punjabi dil-khush protective father who struggles with letting go of age-old ideas of loving and living.

If there was a re-make of 1942: A Love Story which actors do you think would suit the main roles?
Manisha Koirala and Anil Kapoor! We’ll never be too old for the remake!
