Ibrahim beats the pain barrier

Despite straining his calf midway through the London marathon Ibrahim Jama was determined to reach the finishing line.

And his determination meant he raised over £1000 for orphans sponsored and supported by the Ummah Welfare Trust.

The 49-year-old from Bolton managed to complete his marathon in 5 hours and 50 minutes finishing at rank 22,539 out of 35,000 runners.

After completing the Marathon, Mr Jama said, "As I started the marathon, the first 16 miles were relatively easy to run.

" Thereafter, my calf started to hurt severely but I was determined to continue and first aid specialists massaged my muscles a few times in between.

"I intended at the outset to make this marathon a means of raising awareness for the vulnerable orphans of the Ummah." UWT Director, Shaykh Mohammad Ahmad said, "Brother Ibrahim Jama has signalled an important message of supporting the orphans who continue to suffer around the globe.

"I would like to thank him on behalf of Ummah Welfare Trust for taking this extra ordinary initiative and thank all those who sponsored the marathon".

The Ummah Welfare Trust is a charity registered in the United Kingdom which operates in more than 20 countries all over the world.
