One of the youngest nominees for this year's British Asian Sports Awards is Maira Malik of Liverpool.
Maira Malik has been chosen as one of only two
successful nominees to go through and compete for the under 10s Young Sports Personality of the Year award.
Maira Malik, 9 has been performing martial arts for nearly three years.
She has been training at 'Family Martial Arts' as one of the junior performers.
Her father Younis said, "In September 2007 Maira earned a red and black belt and went on to get her black belt in December.
"One of Maira's recent achievements was that she became a success coach which consists of coaching and motivating other students."

To Abdul: Maira has entered competitions (as mentioned by Master Rolls in the tv clips) and has won medals but as these were achieved prior to her Black Belt we didn't think it necessary to mention this in the brief newspaper article. Maira was selected by the judges fairly based on her achievements as compared to all of the other entrants. I hope this answers your questions.

Well done Maira. Your an inspiration to us all! And to Abdul, I don't know any children who have achieved what she has at such a young age. Her skill is evident for anyone who has seen her clip on t.v. If you know any children with her skill then maybe you should have entered them in the competition. And please, next time you want to comment, respect the other readers by writing in proper english.
