The full-list of nominations have been unveiled for this year's British Asian Sports Awards. And the North of England is well-represented in the list.
Kiran Matharu of Leeds, is the youngest European player to qualify for the 2007 ladies Tour. The rising star has been nominated for the Most Up and Coming Sports Personality of the Year.
Azeem Rafiq, 16, has been nominated in the Junior Sports Personality of the year section.
He was previously England U16 Captain and has an Academy contract at Yorkshire CCC. He is the youngest player ever to be on the ECB. He has also been 12th man for Yorkshire CCC. He is believed to be the first Yorkshire player of Asian background to captain an England side at any level.
Hanif Hussain aged 8 of Bradford has been nominated Young Sports Personality of the Year 2007 u10. He is presently having trials with Scunthorpe UTD and Bradford City and is a top goal scorer for Manningham Youth Academy.
Hanif has been nominated in the same section as rugby player Joseph Osman, aged 8 also of Bradford. Joseph plays for Manningham Bulls Rugby U11's team and was voted players player and coaches player for 2 seasons on the trot.

Ikram Butt has been put forward for an Outstanding Achievement Award. Ikram has captained Pakistan Rugby Football Union (RFU) at the South Asian Rugby Games - Sri Lanka 2007. He also Represents British Asian Rugby Association (BARA) in parliament.
Two of the most current Asian sports stars, Amir Khan and Monty Panesar are going head to head for the coveted Sports Personality of the Year Award.
The awards will take place at the Park Lane Hilton on Saturday February 16.
