Oldham’s Coppice United will have to get past neighbours Asia if they are to become the first team to retain the North West Football Championships.

The tournament which will be played at the Blackburn Rovers Youth Football Academy during the May Bank holiday will feature eight teams from across the North West.

Coppice United have already won the Asian Image Cup twice and will be also looking to become the first side to win it three times and overtake Canaries and Asia.

Asia are one of two teams representing Rochdale for the first time. The other team – Rochdale Asia – will play last year’s beaten finalists Bolton United who shocked everyone by reaching the final.

Rochdale Asia are taking part in their first tournament.

Another new team Westwood will play Blackburn FC. The game of the round though will see Nelson United take on Canaries of Preston.

Nelson United this year bring a team featuring players from two clubs (Paak United and Life FC).

Both are riding high in the Pendle Charity league. The official draw was held at the Shahi Qila restaurant in Blackburn in front of captains and managers from each club.

The full draw is as follows 2.45pm games: Nelson United vs Canaries; Westwood vs Blackburn FC.

5pm games: Coppice United vs Asia; Bolton United vs Rochdale Asia.

First round games to be played on Saturday May 5.The semi finals will take place at 4pm on Sunday May 6 and the final on Bank Holiday Monday May 7.
